Maria Immacolata Catholic School currently offers a number of different clubs and activities for our students. These include:
An academic club that recognizes academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. *
4-H prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community and the world. Using research-based programming around positive youth development, 4-H youth get the hands-on real world experience they need to become leaders. *
Our students are given the opportunity to participate in band through the courtesy of Vandebilt Catholic High School. *
Students are selected to participate in this annual academic competition based on skill, knowledge, and ability in any of the four major subject areas. *
The Big Blue
Our student-run newspaper publication. Newspapers are available for preorder only. All students in grades 4-7 are eligible to contribute. See an example here.
This program is put on by the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney's Office, in conjunction with Terrebonne General Hospital, to educate students on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The program culminates with a court case re-enactment held at the Houma Courthouse by the 5th grade class.
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches our 6th grade students how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.
Cross Country Kids
This program began as a simple running club in the fall of 2011, but has since grown to involve meets and competitions. CCK is headed by trusted volunteers, and provides students a healthy outlet for physical activity.
Other progams and activites occur throughout the year, including Oktoberfest, Live Nativity, and our SOUPer Art and Talent Show. This is, of course, in addition to various field trips and retreats. If you have any other ideas or suggestions, please feel free to contact us.
