Academics and Spirituality

“Excellence in Academics + a God-Loving Catholic Environment = Success.”

What is “success?” At our school, success cannot be defined without God. He is reality; he gives life on Earth meaning and purpose.

The mission of Holy Savior School aims to do more than simply instruct the child about religion and academics. We must encourage our children to strive for that “success”. To be good citizens and to form a relationship with God as faithful disciples. To “create self-motivated, lifelong learners who positively impact their families, their communities, and their world.”

For 140 years, the Holy Savior family has worked to develop the whole person. Every child, passionate educator, and dedicated family who has walked our halls is part of our story. It is our privilege and duty to ensure that this story continues for our community.

Holy Savior Catholic School has been providing many generations of families in the central Lafourche area a Catholic education since 1879. As of 2020, students ages one through fifth grade from Lockport and the surrounding areas are provided a compassionate and nurturing environment where all students are encouraged to learn, serve, lead and succeed.

The school's mission teaches the students to live the principles of Catholic tradition which is deeply rooted in the Gospel of Jesus. This allows students to learn to serve God and others, to strive for academic excellence, and to become successful lifelong learners.

Holy Savior's faith formation and Catholic identity are lived out daily by the faculty, staff and students in order to prepare them for their future spiritual life. Our students attend daily religion lessons, weekly Masses, and monthly rosaries.

While our faculty and staff are committed to offering opportunities for students to succeed academically, we work together to ensure that each child's spiritual, social, physical, and academic needs are met. Teachers use various teaching strategies and integrate technology using interactive Promethean Boards and our 1:1 Chromebook program to develop a student's critical thinking skills. Besides the major subjects, Holy Savior offers music, computer, library, and physical education enrichment classes. Students are offered a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities such as 4-H, band, choir, STEAM club, performing arts, cross country, and more.

The importance of service and charity are stressed at Holy Savior. Our students are encouraged to live out the Gospel values Jesus taught and make a positive impact on those in our community. Various service activities take place throughout the year, such as collecting toiletries for The Haven and supplies for the PACT Place. Called by our mission as a Catholic school to serve others, service projects are a part of everyday life at our school.

Holy Savior Catholic School is grateful for the dedication and support of those who believe in Catholic education and our mission. It is because of you - and God's grace - that Holy Savior students will continue to learn, serve, lead, and succeed.

"Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school—the unseen but ever-present teacher in its classes, the model of its faculty, and the inspiration of its students."

Join us in our mission as we strive to guide souls towards the Lord.
