History

Holy Rosary Catholic School first opened its doors to 45 students in the fall of 1963 under the direction of Father Emile Fossier and the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. First and second grade classes were held in the Larose Fire Station until construction of the school was completed. The faculty of two included Sister Claire Rodrigue, who was also the principal for twenty years.

By the second year, the population had grown to 132 students and five teachers. Today the school has expanded to include students from Pre-K 2 through eighth grade, bound together by a well-experienced faculty and staff.

In the early 1980’s, an addition to the main building was constructed that included a library, offices and four new classrooms. Our present campus also houses a cafeteria, computer lab, resource room and an enclosed play area.

A nurturing spirit and family atmosphere are, in part, reasons for the school’s continued prosperity and blessings. With support from staff, parents, relatives, and friends, Holy Rosary Catholic School continues the ministry that inspired its origin. HRCS is held together with a bond of love and faith that is extended to all who are opened to this experience.
